March Madness

The month of March flew by (much like February and January). Both girls had their annual well-child check on March 6th. Ava is 36.5 inches and 30 pounds. Her head circumference is 48 cm. Fiona is 42.5 inches and 35 pounds. We also went shopping for Cousin Sierra's 1st birthday gift that day; I was able to get her a toy plus some clothes and a couple things for the girls for Easter 1) without them complaining because I didn't get them anything and 2) without them realizing that some of it really was for them. Not sure how I pulled that off. The weather at the beginning of the month was first cold, then warm, then cold, repeat. But that first weekend was pretty nice so we made it to the playground one day.

We went to Boonshoft with Sean on Sat (March 7th), and went to the Planetarium inside there for the first time. The show we went to was a roller coaster one set on different planets. Fiona really liked it; Ava covered her eyes for most of it. We also checked out the new design exhibit a little bit before it started.

On Tues (March 10) we went to an indoor open playtime at the Kettering Rec Center to meet up with some other moms and kids from the area. The girls had fun, but Ava kept wanting the same toy as another little(r) boy...even though there were tons to play with. Fiona had fun playing in a little house with some of the kids. They set it up as a drive through.

On the 11th I registered Fiona for kindergarten! Hard to believe she's old enough already to be starting (formal) school. There's a pre-K assessment in May also. She'll meet with two kindergarten teachers, a speech therapist and the nurse for them to "assess" her. I'm curious to know how they go about doing this. I could just tell them that she's clearly ready to learn (and has been for awhile).

On Thurs (March 12) I went to a Paint Nite event to use up a Groupon that was about to expire soon. This is my painting. It was supposed to have a man and a women, but I made it our family instead. I had a good time.

Donna and Margaret came to visit the weekend before Fiona's birthday (arrived late Thurs and left after lunch on Sunday). It was fun they were here on Friday also. Went went to "Signs of Spring" at Hills and Dales as part of the Conservation Kids program through the Metroparks and then played at home.

On Saturday we went to Cozymelts as a birthday treat. Fiona picked a little car to paint and Donna and Margaret both painted a little dish for each of the girls. After painting we came back home and had Sean's family over for dinner, presents, and cake.

Fiona was very methodical about having different colors for different parts.

The weather was nice on Sunday so we enjoyed a family walk.

Ever since we went with Sean to Boonshoft in early March Fiona had been asking to go again, so we finally made it their on the 17th. We visited the new featured exhibit on 'design' again in addition to all the usual exhibits.

March 23rd...can you believe it's snowing again. The girls sure enjoyed it!

Fiona started a new gymnastics class in March (Beginner Girls). The girls are mostly older than Fiona, but she seems like she's enjoying it. She's even learned to do a bridge already and has been practicing cartwheels.

On the last Saturday in March (the 28th) we decided to drive down to Cincinnati for lunch at the Hofbrauhaus and then to see the Loveland Castle. It was a cold day, but sunny and calm. The girls really like the lookout areas in the castle.
