Fun Times

Fiona has been learning a lot of new skills lately and it's been awhile since I've posted anything about them.

She knows that hangnails need to be clipped.  The other morning her fingernail got caught on something and tore a little bit.  She showed it to me like we needed to take care of it so we went in the other room to get the fingernail clippers and clipped it off.

She can climb onto the couches and chairs that don't roll around.  She knows to get down backwards and she's pretty good about sitting on her bottom.  We have to remind her sometimes, but not a ton.  Sometimes she'll pile all the pillows up around her.

She knows that she needs a parent to go up and down the stairs and she knows to sit on her bottom or hold our hand going down the stairs.  Sometimes she'll sit down about 4 feet from the first stair and butt scoot her way over, which is cute.  Safety first!

She's been saying more words again lately.  The ones I can think of off-hand that she says repeatedly are: hi, bye (which sounds like die), walk, waa (for water), duck, hat, dada or daddy, hot, rock.  She babbles a lot and every once in awhile we can make out a clear phrase.  She says something repeatedly for milk that isn't milk and something for mommy that isn't mommy, buy I can't quite make them out.  She'll also sing to herself or to us sometimes.

She knows how you hold the phone and how you talk into it.  She has a play cell phone that she'll hold up to her ear (like you would a real phone) and she'll talk into it.

She thinks it fun to sit on our stomachs and bounce, which is not cool.  She giggles up a storm until we pick her up and tell her to stop.  She also likes to plop on the bed or sometimes the floor, run in place and do hip thrusts on the floor or bed.  She'll do somersaults, but can't quite get her legs over straight.  She can be very silly and likes to be tickled and surprised (like peak-a-boo).
