Field Trip!

Fiona had her first field trip on Tuesday and I had my first as a parent since I volunteered to be a chaperon. We went to Meadowview Growers to have some fall fun. The weather was a little breezy, cool and cloudy, but the kids barely noticed since they were running around a lot and in general just little balls of energy.

I had 4 girls to chaperon, Fiona and 3 others (McKenna, Lucy and Savannah). We got on the bus a little before 9 and were at the back of the bus. Savannah was very excited because her bus driver was driving our bus. It took about half an hour to get there. Once we unloaded the kids and our lunches each of the four classes went to a different activity. Our class started at the play area with another class and then we stayed there for a second turn. After that we listened to The Humply Dumply Pumpkin and then the kids picked out a pumpkin to draw a face on. The kids had apple juice and fruit snacks also. The last activity for our class was the hay ride. This was Fiona's favorite part. The driver was crazy! He didn't watch where he was going and kept almost running into the pumpkin patch. He even we cleaning his glasses while driving. He led us into the woods where there were spiders and bats hanging, and a bucket with a rope that had a sign saying "Don't pull the rope." Except somebody thought we should so he stopped and they pulled the rope, but then nothing happened. While we were stopped we tried to trick him by making ghost noises so he started driving again, but the wagon was disconnected so he left without us. His wife had a Snickers in her pocket so she waved it in the air so he'd smell it and come back. While we waited she told us a story about an old woman who wasn't afraid of anything that was walking through the woods and started being followed by shoes, pants, a shirt, gloves and a pumpkin head. Except she wasn't afraid and they were sad because it was their job to be scary, so she had the idea that they could be a scarecrow! As the story was ending the driver came back and drove us crazily back to the main area where all the other kids were, and then we all ate lunch. The kids played a little after lunch while everyone that needed to used the bathroom and all our stuff was gathered. The bus ride back to the school was a little quieter and we got back around quarter to two. I just took Fiona home with me school ends at 2.

It was a fast slide!

And decorating it.
