Fun Times in Florida

Well, it's been over 2 months now, so we'll see how my memory does.

Mom got here on Saturday and we left Sunday morning bright and early to drive to FL. It took about 14 hours with stops, but we gained an hour from the time change so we didn't get in too late. We even stopped for some groceries on the way to the condo, just so we wouldn't have to do it the next day. Monday we started our routine of up fairly early, eat breakfast and then "hit the beach" until lunchtime. After lunch some days Ava took a nap first and then we'd go exploring it was the hottest and some days she went without a nap. Then we'd come back and have dinner, go to the beach or the pool, and then bedtime. Monday afternoon we went to the Destin boardwalk; Tuesday we explored the Gulfarium; Wednesday we visited Eden Gardens State Park; Thursday we visited with Jennifer and Caitlin in the morning and early afternoon plus met all of them for dinner at McGuire's, went to the pool afterwards and then to the beach when it got dark to find ghost crabs; and Friday we visited with Genae and her kids at the beach in the morning, had lunch and then Fiona and I went to the pool with them for a little while and the rest of the afternoon we relaxed since we had to leave on Saturday so that Mom could catch her plane back home on Sunday. We also went out for dinner on Friday since we were pretty much out of food by then. Although somewhere during all that we did end up going to the grocery store again and also to the base (commissary).

Sometime while we were down there Fiona got mad at us. I don't remember why anymore (probably she didn't get her way with something) and we could hear her muttering to herself "Only Grama Carol loves me." It was funny because we know that's not how she really feels...she was just venting her frustration.

Since it's been so long I'm just going to post the pictures by day.

Sunday:

Monday:

Fiona loved the bunk beds. Grandma got the bottom and she got the top.

Monday was the waviest morning. Ava loved going in the water. She was fearless until a wave toppled her (I think in the morning, but could have been Monday evening) and then she wanted to stay be me mostly. Fiona was more cautious overall. She liked playing in the water, but didn't like it getting on her face.

The beach at midday.

We let Fiona go on the trampoline that was along the boardwalk, Originally she wanted to go in the inflatable ball where she could run and tumble on the water, but didn't like it once she got inside and they started filling it so they had this also that she really liked.

Both girls loved the bowl of shells in our condo.

Everyone got buried except Grandma Rose.

Tuesday:

Ava's ready to "hit the beach"

Ava loved floating with me holding her. I swear she could have done this for hours if I let her.

The grand finale!

The baby dolphin (Kaia) was only a few months old. She was in the show, but didn't really perform. She stayed next to her mom when we watched them underwater.

We skipped her nap to come to the Gulfarium.

Fiona got to pick out a souvenir (small bottle filled with sand and shells on a keychain).

Sean and the girls hanging out outside while I make dinner.

Wednesday:
Another midday shot.

The girls liked their fancy hair.

We didn't get to see the inside of the house because they didn't offer tours on Wed. We're 0 for 2 on seeing the inside of this gorgeous house!

We saw a cool bug while walking around.

There was a nice path through the gardens and down to the water.

The beach in the evening.

Thursday:

Friday:

It was a very windy dinner.

Saturday:
Ava's diaper malfunctioned on the way home. That was a fun rest stop (not!).
