Papa's Day

Sean had to leave for a work trip yesterday morning so the girls and I just saw him briefly before he left. Instead we spent most of Father's Day celebrating with Sean's Dad (a.k.a. Papa). After getting ready, we drove over to their house and then went with Papa, Grama, Auntie Jennifer and Caitlin to Clinton Mills for (a second) breakfast. Since it was Father's Day, there was quite a wait, but we walked around outside a bunch and checked out the toys in the gift area while we waited.

Watching the water go. The water was high from all the rain we had Saturday and a few days before too. (Note, Carol has a good pic of the cousins that I want to add also.)

A couple of scenic pictures also. They also had a little 1850s cabin and an area for a manger at Christmastime. They have tons of lights that are on around Christmas also.

After breakfast, we went out on their patio area to see and hear the rushing water (from all the recent rains) and then "toured" the mill area in the back. Once we dragged Papa away from there, we walked on the road a bit to get to the Clinton trail and then hiked the trail until the next parking lot/trailhead. The trail was a little flooded in spots, which the girls loved - especially Ava, but we persevered and were rewarded to discover a small nature center near the trailhead. The place was awesome; they had a couple of turtle habitats, a real bee hive that you could see inside, tons of pelts to touch, bird displays, and a volunteer that gave me some tips (and a book) on how to figure out what kind of tree I found in my yard. We must have spent at least an hour in there.

 A couple of trail pics

And more scenery.

An awesome beehive, plus honeycomb that you could touch.

The mink was Fiona's favorite...along with the fox and rabbit and anything really soft.

Then since it was Father's Day and Papa wanted some ice cream, he talked us into going to Young's Dairy. It was a really short conversation. :) And of course after eating yummy ice cream, the girls had to feed the goats, climb on the tractors and tires, play on the kettles, and just have some fun.

It was a little after 5 by time we left, Of course Ava fell asleep on the way home after a day of activity and no nap, but she woke up for dinner (thankfully we had leftovers), a bath and bedtime.
