Fiona has regressed lately back to waking up multiple times during the night wanting to eat so we decided it was time to start giving her a little cereal at night. The doctor said anytime between 3 and 4 months was OK and she loves to watch us eat our dinner. So on Tues (6/29) we mixed up a little cereal and tried to feed it to her after dinner.
She did alright the first time...she didn't hate it, but she definitely looked perplexed by the new item being put in her mouth. Her little tongue kept pushing it out. Of the 1 tablespoon of cereal that I mixed up she probably ate about 3 spoonfuls total; I didn't try to feed it all to her and the rest ended up on the burp cloth.
We missed Wednesday, but Thursday went much better. She finished the entire tablespoon of cereal mix and only maybe half of it got on the bib/burp cloth. She was still hungry afterwards. We're going to keep trying each night and eventually she'll get the hang of it.
As a note to my future self, I mixed a little less than 1 tablespoon of dry cereal with about 2 ounces of warm milk and she seemed to like that. It seemed runny enough that she wasn't gagging on it.
