Unofficial start of summer

We had a pretty busy Memorial Day weekend this year.  Saturday was spent doing house and yard work, including planting my first new flowers, three rose bushes out front.  Of course, after a month of almost continuous rain, now it hasn't rained since I planted them.  So I've been watering and they're doing OK.

Sunday we got up early, for a Sunday anyways, stopped by to pick up Grandma and Grandpa and drove to Indiana for Sean's second cousin's (Jessica) high school graduation.  His uncle Charlie and aunt Dorothy were visiting, since Jessica is their granddaughter, so we got to see them also.  The big party was on Saturday so this was just a small get together.  We mostly visited, ate food and stayed in the shade.  Fiona was introduced to silly putty, which she really liked.  She also let a couple of other new people hold her for a little while.  She was OK as long as she was intently playing, but once she looked up and realized they were new, she was done.

Playing with silly putty, tongue sticking out of course

More silly putty

A very intense conversation with Charlie...or perhaps a staring contest?  The red on the table is the egg that the silly putty was in.  She could open it, but couldn't quite line it up right to close it again.

We stayed at a hotel overnight so we could visit more and relax.  They had a pool and we had our suits so Fiona got her first pool experience.  She really likes her baths so we were thinking she'd like the pool too, and we were right.  She splashed, got propelled like a boat, bounced up and down, even accidentally dunked her face and enjoyed it all.  We got out when her lips started shivering, but she was ready to stay in longer.

Monday we drove back home and went to Sean's parents for a barbecue and to hang out.  Chris, Jen and Caitlin came over later also.  It was another hot day, but not so bad in the shade with the breeze, so we played outside in the shade for awhile.  Sean and I bumped (volleyball style) a ball back and worth while Fiona watched laughing and squealing.

Very stylish (and schwetty!)

I just like this picture

Givin' some attitude

She's been doing this squealing thing lately when she gets excited and while it's kind of cute, it also gets very annoying.  Outside is more tolerable, inside we make her stop.
