Third Leg: Vegas

On Friday, April 11, after breakfast in the hotel we set off for Las Vegas.  I was feeling better!  We didn't have to stop for lunch since we packed sandwiches although we did make a couple of scenic rest stops, and we got to Uncle Charlie and Aunt Dorothy's just before a delicious homemade chicken enchilada and rice dinner.  Cousin Gary was there too so we visited with him also.  After dinner and visiting, and the girls were in bed, we had some wine and visited some more.

Yay! The speed limit was 80 in Utah and Nevada!

First rest stop just across the border in Utah.

They had dirt, so Ava was happy!

Sean and I liked the beautiful scenery.

Fiona liked the flowers we found.

There was a hill that we decided to hike up, to get a better view of the scenery.

Saturday the girls were up early (thanks to the time change) so I threw in some laundry, we had a yummy homemade breakfast (bacon, eggs and toast), got ready and then went down to the Strip.  We parked by Caeser's Palace, walked to see the fountains at the Bellagio, and then went to the Paris Las Vegas and up the Eiffel Tower for a view on the observation deck while Charlie and Dorothy stayed below.  We were pleased to find out that it was free for military and kids.  When we were done, we headed towards the Flamingo and decided to go on the High Roller, even though Fiona was asleep by then.  We let her sleep, but Ava had a blast.  The views were amazing!!  Our final stop was the outdoor bar area by Caeser's Palace for a drink (while Fiona slept more) before heading back to get goulash for dinner and early to bed.

It was a beautiful, albeit warm, day.

Both girls liked the fountain show, except the grand finale was a little loud.

A view down the strip.

The car for the High Roller could hold 40 people, there was an optional drink/food cart, and the ride went 550 feet into the air.

So sweet; we just couldn't wake her and risk getting crabby Fiona instead.

Happy to be able to move around.

Aunt Dorothy and Uncle Charlie.

Pictures don't do it justice.

Playing in Aunt Dorothy's backyard.

They (generally) do a great job sharing and playing together.

Sunday we were up early again, had pancakes for breakfast, did a little more laundry, headed to a local park only to be blown away after about 10 minutes, headed back, had some leftovers for lunch, and then over to Gary's to use his pool.  Ava loved it, but I had to hold her because unfortunately the innertube had been popped that morning due to too much plopping on it.  Fiona sat on a bigger floatie for awhile, but then she was leaning a little too much so we had her sit in the hot tub for a while and then we got out, cleaned up, got some dinner and of course visited with family the whole time: Gary, Denise, Brian, Charlie, Dorothy and Gary's kids made a brief appearance.

Showing Aunt Dorothy her climbing skills.

All set for the pool party!

The funnest part of Gary's yard.

It was a beautiful morning when we left on Monday.
